Offline field inspection

CURRENT

Keep the inspection moving when the signal stops

Fenwix is an offline-first field inspection app for Android. Core inspections, checklist answers, findings and evidence are written to local app storage, so weak reception does not block the job. Current Solo operation does not require an account or a vendor-hosted inspection database.

Local first

The inspection is saved on the device before any network-dependent action.

Autosaved work

Progress is persisted during the inspection instead of waiting for final submission.

Honest boundary

Shared cloud synchronization and customer-storage connectors are not current features.

What the offline path looks like

  1. Open locally
  2. Inspect
  3. Autosave
  4. Complete the record
  5. Export or share when ready

Which work continues without internet?

Inspectors can open local templates, answer items, add notes, create findings, attach local evidence and complete the source record without relying on a live service. Report creation also uses the local record.

  • Checklist completion
  • Findings and corrective-action details
  • Photo, annotation and supported local evidence
  • PDF report generation and local verification

Where is current Solo data stored?

Operational inspection content is kept in app-private storage on the Android device. Fenwix does not operate a hosted inspection-content database for the current Solo workflow. Users decide when to export, share or back up data.

  • Device loss and app removal remain operational risks
  • A tested backup routine is still necessary
  • Local storage is not the same as encrypted enterprise storage
  • Customer-owned multi-device storage is a roadmap architecture

Offline-first is not delayed cloud mode

A genuine offline workflow must treat local persistence as the normal path, not as a temporary screen waiting to submit. Fenwix separates current local operation from future synchronization claims so teams can evaluate what works today.

  • No invisible queue is presented as completed synchronization
  • No provider connector is claimed as available
  • The technical direction is documented separately on Fenwix.net

Plan for these offline realities

  • Back up records before device replacement, reset or app removal
  • Sharing to another service may still require connectivity
  • Offline operation does not remove device-security or access-control responsibilities

Offline inspection questions

Can I start and finish an inspection in airplane mode?

The core inspection and local report workflow is designed to work from device storage without a live account session.

Does offline mean my data is automatically backed up?

No. Local operation and backup are different. Users should create and verify backups appropriate to their device and risk.

Does Fenwix sync with Google Drive today?

No. Google Drive is the first planned connector direction, not a currently available synchronization feature.

Can I create a PDF while offline?

Yes. PDF generation uses the local source record and does not require a hosted inspection database.

Test Fenwix where connectivity is weakest

Use a real checklist in the work area, complete it offline and confirm the report and backup path before operational rollout.
